Guide for players

Beside several advantages which a member of ANCL enjoys (e.g. the privileges as user of the ANCL forum), there are on the other hand some small tasks he/she has to take care of. This is the basis for a fair and regulated prosperity of ANCL - it begins with each of its members reliability!
First important step to achieve this, is a minimum of knowledge about the ANCL rules! Each member has to proofread them and respect them during the whole tournament - knowledge of the ANCL rules is assumed!
Furthermore there are some unwritten rules, too, which carry a big weight in ANCL, like fairness, behaviour and respect in dealing with the other members in chat or in the forum. Offending these principles can lead to immediate expulsion from ANCL!

Arranging your game time

A player, who is lined up by his/her captain, must contact his/her opponent fastest possible within the ANCL forum (in the "game time arrangements" category) and submit him/her proposals for the game time to effect a quick fixation of the game appointment . Each lined up player therefore has to make an active effort finding an appointment which is convenient to both players. To prevent missunderstandings in respect of the different time zones, each player is requested to use exclusively the Playchess server time (CET) in his forum posts.

Here is a picture of a forum having all the 6 topics created:

Click on the forum created for your team and the opposing team and you will see the topics in this forum. If a forum for your game has not been created yet, click on the "new topic" button and you make a topic called "your name vs your opponent s name". In the message body you start a dialogue with your opponent, offering him/her dates and times when you are available to play the game. If the topic is already created by your captain, by the opposing team s captain or by your opponent, you enter the topic and click the "post reply" button. Then you can make your suggestions or answer your opponent.

Posting your game time in the calendar

After you arranged your game time you must post it in the calendar wich you will find on the forum, on the top of the page:

You will find a guide about adding a game to the calendar on the forum under the "Calendar" forum of the "Appointments category"

Playing your game

1.) When it is time to play your game, turn up to the ANCL room 1 on the Chessbase server. The room is located in Clubs & Federations > Net Communities > All Nations Chess League

The host team(the team listed on the left hand side) always plays the white pieces on the odd(1,3,5) boards!

2.) Make sure your formula is off

3.) You make a seek for a rated 90+5 game.

You will see the seek in the challange box as shown on the picture below

4.) If the colors are wrong (let us say you are Isht, and you have to play with the white pieces) then push the resign button (red arrow), confirm it (orange arrow) and offer a rematch (yellow arrow)

Then you will see that the colors are changed .you will have the white pieces

5.) If you get disconnected, there are 2 possibilities when you get back:
a.) You will be reconnected automatically
b.) You are not reconnected
Here is what has to be done if case "b" arises: your opponent has to close his game window, sign out and back in. One of you then has to right-click on the opponent and click "resume interrupted game"(see the picture below).

Conversely, if your opponent gets disconnected then you have to close your game window, sign out and back in before one of you right-clicks on the opponent and clicks "resume interrupted game"

Posting the result

You make a post reply on the forum, that contains the result of your game, in the topic of your team s match under the "Week x: ANCL round y Div z" forum of the "Results" category.

And now the entire ANCL community welcomes every fair and motivated player and wishes lots of fun and success!!
